The Heartland Symphony Orchestra (HSO) will continue its 49th season by performing its Winter Concert Series “Home for the Holidays.” The program will feature holiday classics by Leroy Anderson, including Sleigh Ride, Bugler’s Holiday, and A Christmas Festival, and the Symphony Orchestra Premiere of Kathryn Bergman’s Superior. Rounding out the concert will be music from George Bizet’s L’Arlésienne Suite, an innovative rendition of The Twelve Days of Christmas by Jeff Liebsch, and Bob Cerulli’s Holiday Sing-A-Long.
The Saturday, December 6, performance in Little Falls will take place at the Charles D. Martin Auditorium at 7:30 pm. The Sunday, October 7, performance in Brainerd will be at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts at 2:30 pm.
In lieu of conductor chats for this concert series, the Tuney Loons, a Brainerd-based wind quintet comprised of HSO musicians, will perform music from The Nutcracker and other holiday tunes in the lobby 45 minutes before both concerts.
This activity is made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. In Little Falls, the Laura Jane Musser Fund provides additional support.
HSO welcomes audience members of all ages to our performances, free of charge. No ticket is necessary, but donations will be accepted at the door and online.
