Heartland Symphony Orchestra Fall Concert Series, “Opening Nights” October 11 & 12

The Heartland Symphony Orchestra (HSO) will begin its 49th season by performing its Fall Concert Series “Opening Nights.” The program will highlight Steve Zander on Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, published by Boosey and Hawkes, and the world premiere of Kyle W. Brown’s Radiant, written specifically for HSO. The Saturday, October 11, performance in Little Falls will take place at the Charles D. Martin Auditorium at 7:30 pm. The Sunday, October 12, performance in Brainerd will be at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts at 2:30 pm.

Steve Zander is an orchestral violinist, studio musician, and chamber music collaborator. Based in Malibu, CA, Steve is a member of the Santa Barbara Symphony, associate concertmaster of Opera Santa Barbara, and performs annually with the Lakes Area Music Festival.

Kyle W. Brown is a composer, educator, and flutist based in Brainerd, MN. Kyle plays piccolo in the Heartland Symphony Orchestra and principal flute in the Central Lakes Wind Symphony. Kyle is a music instructor at Central Lakes College and adjunct professor of flute & composition at Bemidji State University.

Conductor Ryan Webber will host “Conductor Chats” 45 minutes before each concert. These informational conversations provide audience members with an “inside scoop” on the music of the performance they are about to attend.

This activity is made possible, in part, by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. In Little Falls, the Laura Jane Musser Fund provides additional support.

HSO welcomes audience members of all ages to our performances, free of charge. No ticket is necessary, but donations will be accepted at the door and online at www.heartlandsymphony.com
