Heartland Symphony Orchestra will again present their Winter Concert in three locations this year. With the theme “Shall We Sing?”, this series will feature soloist David Thompson, Principal Oboe, in the Minnesota premiere of Allen Stephenson’s Concerto for Cor Anglais and Strings. Other holiday selections to be performed include Leroy Anderson’s Sleigh Ride, David Lovrien’s Minor Alterations: Christmas Through the Looking Glass, Guaraldi & Mendelson’s A Charlie Brown Christmas, and Verdi’s Overture to Nabucco. The Brainerd concert will include a side-by-side collaboration with the Brainerd High School Chamber Orchestra. The Winter Concerts will be held November 30 at 7:30 PM in Crosslake at The Log Church, December 2 in Little Falls at 7:30 PM and December 3 in Brainerd at 2:30 PM at the same locations.
These concerts are made possible by the voters of Minnesota through grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Five Wings Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. In Little Falls, the Laura Jane Musser Fund provides additional support.
HSO concerts are free and welcome an audience of all ages. Donations will be accepted at the door or online.
